After months of working hard, stressing out about deadlines, and the hot weather, I think that it’s about time for my summer vacation! With the ever increase gas prices, flights are becoming more expensive than a local getaway. For a fun vacation, it is best to look neighboring areas. I ask myself where can I get a great vacation without spending a fortune on flight arrangements, and hotel reservations; all the while enjoying my time with exciting activities?
A paradise awaits in my own backyard of Mexico! Cabo Vacations resorts are known primarily for their big-game fishing, hiking, kayaking, scuba, diving, snorkeling, and beaches. In my opinion, this is the best place to find your home away from home, only 700 miles south of the border.
From Baja to Panama, there are many activities to explore on a vacation. Over the last few years, generic once popular tourist spots have reduced in popularity. Mexico sportsfishing expeditions have grown in vogue. Why travel to Alaska for sportsfishing when it can be found in your own backyard. Panama sportsfishing offers the thrill of catching a big fish delights the vacation traveler so much so that destinations like Panama and Baja California fishing has become sought after.
In Mexico, the finest fishing, diving and fun in the sun is waiting for you. I strongly suggest to make this summer enjoyable for not only yourself, but for the family too. With plenty of time to experience Mexican culture including great food and entertainment, why wait? I don’t want to miss my chance!

Mexico sportfishing has always been its best in the East Cape region. Here are the latest conditions for the world famous Sea of Cortez. This area is known worldwide as one of the premier vacation and big-game fishing spots in the world. It consistently produces huge numbers of blue, black, and striped marlin, sailfish, dorado, wahoo, yellowfin tuna, roosterfish and more.
--Cabo San Lucas Sportfishing: Maybe La Niña is to blame, but conditions are unsettled for this time of year, with strong winds raging at times on the Pacific side of the Baja peninsula. Marlin are the primary targets and action is fair to good. Lots of bonito. Some dorado.
--San Jose del Cabo: The Gordo Banks Pangas fleet is well-positioned for marlin but is having trouble obtaining the right kind of bait and is settling for mullet, which marlin can take or leave. Some dorado. Lots of small roosterfish and only scattered pargo along the coast. Native fisherman Chame Pino won the La Playita Dorado Tournament with a 45.5-pound bull, caught at San Luis Bank.
--East Cape Fishing: Much more settled. Lots of big dorado. Timothy Boyle of Tustin landed a 48-pounder while fishing at Hotel Buena Vista Beach Resort. Rancho Leonero reports vessels are averaging one-plus billfish per day. Chris Nelson and Ron Johnson from Carlsbad, in two days on a cruiser, caught two striped marlin, six dorado and 10 white bonito!
--La Paz: Intermittent strong winds made for a hit-or-miss week, but large dorado and very large roosterfish were caught, and some marlin and sailfish baited. Seattle's Andy Ewing, on his first-ever fishing trip, caught and released an estimated 50-pound roosterfish aboard a Tailhunter International.

It's got to be Baja California, hands down. Particularly beautiful and exciting is the East Cape region. If you like deep sea Mexico sportfishing, there is no better place than the Sea of Cortez. The East Cape is world renown for its great big-game sport fishing, consistently producing huge numbers of blue, black, and striped marlin, sailfish, dorado, wahoo, yellowfin tuna, roosterfish and more. Of course, the most sought after, are blue marlin, and with the largest one caught last year weighing over 1200 pounds, it's no wonder sport fishers from all over come here. In booking a Baja California vacation it is important to make time for all the adventures. Fishing, golfing, horseback riding, snorkeling, "beaching;" these are all required experiences. Many Baja California resorts offer very reasonable packages to make your trip all the more memorable. Resorts like the Hotel Palmas de Cortez include amazing meals, courteous and friendly staff, who mostly speak English, beautiful swimming pools, tennis courts, aviary, racquetball, and boat trips. I strongly suggest visiting the East Cape in Baja California, Mexico. It is so easy to book a vacation now, especially an all-inclusive one. Get out there this Summer, and trust me, you will never forget it!

If you've ever been to Mexico and had anything near the experiences that I've had, you'd want to have your second home there too! I love Mexico! The sights, the sounds, the people, the weather, the food, the night-life, the recreation, I could go on and on. Of course, some parts of Mexico are a bit more exciting and tourist-friendly than others. Take, for instance, Cabo San Lucas. Known for its tourism, the ever-popular Spring Break vacation spot, as well as historic tours and exciting Mexico sportfishing, Cabo San Lucas is one of the most popular getaway locations in Mexican tourism. Recently, the International Herald Tribune reported an upsurge in land development and real estate in the beautiful 8,000 acre Loreto Bay Resort. Plans for this resort in the next 10 years include 6,000 homes and condos ranging from a modest $350,000 to custom-built $1.5 million, a 500 acre wind farm, solar-heated hot water, seawater desalination plant, and several small villages connected by flagstone streets made for bicycles and electric-golf carts. All this in addition to the already gorgeous 150 room hotel , 240 two-story adobe houses, 3 golf courses, luscious gardens, tennis clubs, marina, and beaches right on the world renown Sea of Cortez. Many American real estate enthusiasts, retirees, and part-time residents are already flocking to snatch up homes in the area, which is near several other popular Baja California vacation spots, like Hotel Palmas de Cortez, and surrounding Baja California resorts known primarily for their big-game fishing, hiking, kayaking, scuba, diving, snorkeling, and beaches. Book a vacation this Spring, and you'll see, the best place to find your home away from home is 700 miles south of the border, in the East Cape region of Baja California Sur, Mexico.
